RYA Diesel Engine Course – Harbour Sea School

This one-day RYA Diesel Engine course is perfect for anyone looking to understand basic engine maintenance and avoid breakdowns at sea. It’s ideal for both leisure boaters and those working afloat, and a great confidence boost ahead of Yachtmaster exams.

No experience is needed. You’ll learn how a diesel engine works, key components, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and what tools and spares to carry on board. The course is practical and hands-on, using a Beta 10 training engine and a range of real parts to examine.

Usually taught by our Chief Instructor, Dom, the day is interactive, informal, and designed to help you feel more confident dealing with your own engine.

Held at our training room in Parkstone Bay Marina, with views over Poole Harbour. Coffee and biscuits provided!

Courses are delivered by our instructors on-site at our sister sea school, Dorset Marine Training.
