Cleaner, Greener Marina Operations

Updated: Sep 12, 2022

We encourage all our customers to have an active awareness of the habitats and biodiversity with which we share our boating.

Over the winter we have made a number of further improvements to reduce the impact that our operations have on the beautiful harbour.

HVO FUEL

With the recent government change on the use of Red Diesel for non-road vehicles we have

decided to switch to greener, alternative fuel for our Marina Operations.

HVO Fuel is a recycled vegetable oil based diesel alternative offering:

  • Up to 90% reduction in net CO2 greenhouse emissions: significantly better for the environment than regular diesel or biodiesel.

  • Renewable, sustainable and 100% biodegradable: synthesised from waste fats and vegetable oils

  • Reduces notifiable particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions: improved air quality

Estimated total amount of Carbon (mt C02e) produced based on annual use of 10,000 litres:

Diesel: 25,123.30

HVO: 355.80

Estimated Annual Reduction 24,767.50 mt C02e

NEW ELECTRIC DRY BERTH FORKLIFT

We are also eagerly awaiting delivery of our Lithium Powered Forklift. This will be the main tow truck for our Dry Berthing operations, further reducing our impact on the environment and also reducing noise levels to provide a more pleasant customer experience.

DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS

Over the winter we have fitted an additional interceptor in addition to our dedicated wash down facility. This interceptor handles all the surface water run off from the engineers forecourts and a large area of the boatyard. This extra filtration means that should there be anything in the water run off it is removed before the clean water is then discharged into the bay.

Further environmental guidance to berth holders can be found in your welcome pack.
